Bismillah..... I registered for TEFL! It's kind of an expensive program but it's near my house and it's face-to-face instruction. Plus I get 160 glorious hours of training. Woot WOOT. Yeah yeah, shijakhae bolkka? (<--- did you get the reference?)
I've been really excited about this for a while even though it was a very difficult decision to make. I researched and asked everyone about good TEFL certificates to enroll in. I made istikharah (a special prayer to help with difficult decisions). Because it was expensive, I had to convince those around me that I was doing the right thing. Although not everyone believes me yet, I'm confident they will change their minds. I don't blame anyone though; I would be doubtful of me too. :p
Anyway this summer will be long and tough. 8 weeks of TEFL, three of those during Ramadan.
Summer vacation is for relaxation time. What the. What did I get myself into?! ;)
In any case, I will keep you updated as I go through the weeks. Inshallah I will be able to document any good ideas here. If you're teaching too, share your ideas. Spread the knowledge. ^_^
I got the reference hehehe. So what exactly is the TEFL for? To teach? Do you want to be an ESL teacher?
ReplyDeleteExcellent question! TEFL stands for Teach English as a Foreign Language so it's a useful certificate for those who would like to teach English abroad as a foreign language. If I was going to teach English in an English-speaking country, I would need a TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language). I hope that helps! Let me know if it still doesn't make sense. :D
